The Challenge

We were approached by True Coffee to help expand their ethical, fairtrade coffee business. When they asked us to develop their new website and direct-to-consumer e-commerce platform, we knew the web design and SEO project would be complex, challenging, and right up our street.

True Coffee needed a digital storefront that communicated the ethical, sustainable ethos behind their beans while giving them a scalable platform capable of driving both direct consumer sales and wholesale inquiries from supermarkets and independent cafes across the UK.

The Brief

The brief was to give the True Coffee team complete control over their content and catalog, injecting a fresh, natural aesthetic that resonates with conscious consumers.

The site needed to encourage retailers and supermarkets to stock True Coffee products, while providing retail customers with a seamless, intuitive online checkout experience. Alongside e-commerce capabilities, the architecture had to be effortless to navigate, search-engine optimized, and fiercely committed to highlighting True Coffee’s social impact, fairtrade farmer partnerships, and climate-neutral commitments.

The Process

We started with a fresh pot to brew up the perfect online presence for one of the UK’s most passionate coffee roasters. Striking product photography accompanied by engaging, sensory copy was essential, detailing origin notes, roast profiles, and brew guides for each blend. We captured the authentic personality of the business—warm, knowledgeable, and approachable—without compromising on the granular details that set their ethical beans apart.

We placed dedicated emphasis on the company’s physical coffee shop and customer service operations, demonstrating how the team adds tangible value at every stage. Across the entire customer journey, we engineered clear calls to action to drive direct subscriptions, impulse purchases, and wholesale trade applications.

The Solution

Once the bespoke design was finalized, we orchestrated a seamless migration from their legacy site to the new platform, ensuring zero downtime and safeguarding hard-earned search rankings with comprehensive redirection maps.

The result is a responsive, modular e-commerce experience powered by a clean grid system that loads in under a second on mobile devices. Customers can browse tasting notes, order single bags or recurring subscriptions, and locate stocking retailers effortlessly.

“Really pleased with my website, both in design and functionality. The team at Pathmaker have been excellent and highly professional throughout the entire process.”
— Sarah Duffy, Owner of True Coffee
